If you’ve ever wondered how to look good in senior photos, especially if you feel awkward in front of a camera, you’re not alone. Almost every single high school senior who walks into my sessions feels the exact same way. You are not the exception. You are the rule.
And as a CT Senior Photographer I am here to tell you that you’re going to be just fine.
It’s Usually Not You. It’s That No One Has Ever Guided You.

Most high school seniors have never had someone actually show them what to do in front of a camera. Not a real photographer, not with real direction. So of course it feels weird. Of course you don’t know where to put your hands or where to look or what to do with your face.
That’s not because you’re awkward. It’s just because no one has ever really walked you through it before.
That’s why I guide you the entire time. From the moment we start, I’m right there telling you exactly what to do, what’s working, and what to adjust. You don’t have to figure anything out on your own.
The best photos don’t come from holding a perfect pose. They come from in-between moments. The laugh you didn’t plan. The look over your shoulder. The deep breath right before you reset. Those are the ones you’ll want to frame.
The Seniors Who Love Their Photos the Most

I’ve noticed this over the years: the seniors who end up loving their photos the most are usually the ones who show up a little nervous and then just let themselves relax into it. They stop trying to look a certain way. They start laughing at something I said and for a second they even forget that I’m even taking pictures.
And that’s usually when everything starts to click.
A Few Things That Actually Help

You don’t need to do anything complicated, but a few small things really do help.
Get a good night of sleep. It sounds simple, but it genuinely shows up in your photos. Rest makes everything look softer and more natural.
Give yourself a few extra minutes to arrive. If you’re rushing, you’ll carry that tension right into the session. A little buffer goes a long way.
Come ready to laugh. I keep things light and easy on purpose. The more you go with it, the more yourself you’ll look.
Let go of the idea that you have to get it right. You don’t. That’s what I’m here for.
You’re Going to Surprise Yourself

If you came here searching for how to look good in senior photos, I’ll say this: the seniors who worry the most about how they’ll look are almost always the ones who are most blown away when they see their images. Because once you’re being guided through it, that awkward feeling just kind of fades. What’s left is just you, relaxed, laughing, completely yourself.
That’s what I want for you. Photos you’re proud to share. Photos your mom will want on the wall. Photos that actually feel like you.
