About CT Shoreline Photographer, Linda Sobolewski

My interests are simple: coffee, workouts, and being outdoors surrounded by beautiful scenery. There’s nothing like getting up early to photograph the sun rising over the CT shoreline. I enjoy taking high school senior portraits, lifestyle newborn photography, and capturing family gatherings in beautiful settings. My goal as a family photographer in Connecticut is to provide easy and comfortable portrait sessions as well as timeless, lasting images.

Senior Photo Posing Tips: You Don’t Need to Know How to Pose

Senior Tips

As a high school senior photographer, I know that senior photo posing tips are something almost every senior worries about before their session. I hear it all the time. “I don’t know how to pose.” “I’m awkward in photos.” “What am I supposed to do with my hands?”

Here’s the truth: you don’t need to know how to pose before your senior session. That is what I am here for!

The most important senior photo posing tip is that you don’t need to come in knowing what to do. That’s my job. I’ll guide you step by step, prompt you, get you moving, and make quick adjustments so everything looks natural and flattering.

You’ll never be standing there feeling awkward or wondering what’s next. I am here for you!!

Senior photo posing tips today look very different than they used to. My sessions are built around movement, not frozen poses. Walking, shifting weight, leaning, laughing, turning your shoulders, and changing expression all create natural, flattering photos.

Movement helps you relax, and relaxed photos always look better.

During your session, I’ll give simple prompts and cues rather than complicated instructions. Things like:

  • where to look
  • how to move
  • when to slow down or pause

These prompts are designed to feel natural and easy, not like you’re “posing for photos.” Most seniors tell me partway through their session that it feels way more fun than they expected!

Senior photo posing tips aren’t about copying poses from Pinterest. Your photos should reflect you. Whether that’s confident, quiet, athletic, stylish, or laid-back, I tailor the session to your personality so your images feel authentic.

There is no one-size-fits-all way to pose a senior.

The only thing I ask of seniors is to show up open-minded and ready to move a little. You don’t need practice, or experience. You don’t need to know what to do with your hands.

That’s what I do!

If you’re planning senior photos and feeling nervous about posing, know that you’ll be guided the entire time, by me. You can find more details about my senior sessions on my website, and I’m always happy to answer questions as you prepare
