One of the most common questions I hear from seniors and their parents is: when is the best time to take senior photos in CT? The truth is, there isn’t just one perfect answer—it depends on your school’s yearbook deadlines, the look you want, and the season that feels most like you. Luckily, Connecticut has four beautiful seasons to choose from, each with its own unique vibe
So, when is the best time to take senior photos in CT? Let’s break it down by season:

Spring (April–June)
The best time of the year to do your photos is mid to late spring of your junior year. A lot of yearbook deadlines are pretty early in the school year, and you don’t want to wait too long and miss having your favorite photo in your senior yearbook. Spring is a wonderful time for portraits—everything is fresh and green, flowers are blooming, and the temperatures are finally warming up.
In fact, June is probably the best month of the year! The weather is warm enough for beach sessions. Classes are pretty much done, school is ending, sports are usually done, so students have more free time. Plus, you’ll be ahead of the game and can enjoy your senior year without that extra stress.

Summer (July–September)
There are many advantages to getting your senior photos done in the summer. First, even if you have a job and/or sports practices, you probably have more free time in the summer than during the school year. Second, the weather is usually beautiful and warm. Beach sessions are especially popular here along the CT shoreline, and there’s no question that summer is the best time to be at the beach. Finally, summer days are long, which means more flexibility and more options for session times. September, in particular, is gorgeous—the weather still feels like summer, and the golden light is especially dreamy.

Fall (Late September–Early November)
Fall in Connecticut is breathtaking. The foliage, cozy outfits, and soft golden light make this one of the most popular times of year. For those that prefer the fall for their senior portraits, keep in mind that turnaround for your photos can take up to three weeks. Ideally, you should plan your session for no later than mid-October. That being said, I’ve done plenty of senior sessions right up until early November! I’ve also found that there is usually some flexibility in those yearbook deadlines—often it just takes a quick email to your school to see if you can have an extension, and most are happy to allow it.

Final Thoughts
So, when is the best time to take senior photos in CT? Every season has something beautiful to offer, but spring—especially June—truly stands out as the best choice. From the fresh blooms and soft light to the peace of mind of being ahead of deadlines, spring sessions make your senior year feel that much more relaxed and enjoyable.
