Back on a warm August evening, I had the pleasure of doing a family beach session in the lovely beach community of Madison, CT. This family session was extra special for me, because I have known this family for several years. Kelly, the mom, works out with me at our local gym, and I consider her my friend. Last fall I photographed her daughter’s senior photos. And finally, last spring I photographed her and her friends for a fun senior photo session!

So, I was thrilled that I was able to photograph this beautiful family together at the Madison Surf Club. I have been there countless times over the years with my own family, and it’s such a great place for a family beach session. Besides the beach, there is a playground, as well as an open picnic area with a nice park-like setting.

The dad’s parents were visiting from out of town, so it was fun to include them for some extended family photos! It’s always wonderful to see the amazing bond between grandparents and their grandchildren, and this bunch was no exception. Including extended family members in a session is so wonderful because they really capture such special moments in time. There is always so much playfulness and laughter and they are some of my favorite photos to shoot.

After our time at the beach, we walked back to this family’s nearby home to get a few extra photos with their beloved dog. After all, dogs are part of the family too!
