Hammonasset Beach Senior Pictures | Matilda’s Sunset Session

Senior

Matilda’s senior session was such a fun evening! We photographed at two beautiful locations in Madison, Connecticut, starting at Bauer Park and finishing with Hammonasset Beach senior pictures at Hammonasset Beach State Park. With four different outfits, beautiful natural light, and a gorgeous sunset, we had so much variety.

I’m Linda Sobolewski, a Connecticut shoreline senior photographer based in Old Saybrook. I love helping my seniors plan sessions that reflect their personalities, with different outfits, beautiful locations, and plenty of time to have fun.

Matilda was absolutely amazing to photograph! She’s funny, sassy, athletic, and determined, with so much confidence in front of the camera. She told me she hopes to become a special education teacher someday, but she also has dreams of modeling. After photographing her, I can absolutely see that happening!

One of the things I love about longer senior sessions is having more time to work with. That extra time allows us to visit two different locations, fit in more outfit changes, and create even more variety in your gallery.

Bauer Park and Hammonasset Beach State Park are both in Madison, Connecticut, and they’re close enough that we can easily visit both during one session. It’s the perfect combination of beautiful fields and beach photos!

Hammonasset Beach State Park is one of my favorite places for senior portraits along the Connecticut shoreline. There’s so much more here than just the beach. The tall grasses, sandy trails, rustic fences, and open natural areas give us so many different backdrops.

Matilda brought four different outfits, and we had so much fun creating different looks throughout her session.

We started Matilda’s session at Bauer Park in Madison, Connecticut. It’s such a pretty location, with open fields, tall grasses, and beautiful natural backdrops.

For her first outfit, Matilda wore a black patterned top with white pants. I brought along a little bouquet of baby’s breath, which we used for some of her photos.

The tall grasses were beautiful, and the late-afternoon sunlight gave us such pretty, warm light. Matilda looked gorgeous in these photos, and I loved how easily she moved between smiling, laughing, and giving me those more serious expressions.

She was so confident and comfortable in front of my camera. I knew right away we were going to have a great session!.

After Bauer Park, we headed to Hammonasset Beach State Park for the rest of Matilda’s session.

Hammonasset is one of my favorite places for senior portraits along the Connecticut shoreline. There’s so much more here than just the beach. The grassy areas, sandy paths, rustic fences, and shoreline give us so many different backdrops.

For her second outfit, Matilda changed into jeans and a pretty cream-colored top. We used the sandy paths, wooden fences, and rustic structures for this part of her session. This look was a little more casual, and I loved the variety it added to her gallery.

And of course, we had to get a few fun photos, too! One of my favorites is Matilda jumping in the air, barefoot, with the biggest smile on her face. She was so much fun to work with, and I loved seeing all those different sides of her personality come through.

For her third look, Matilda changed into a light blue sundress with cowboy boots. I loved this outfit on her, and honestly I think it’s my favorite. The boots gave it a fun, casual feel, and the little bouquet of flowers was the perfect addition.

We photographed her walking through the grasses, sitting among the wildflowers, and enjoying that beautiful evening light. The blue dress looked so pretty against all the greenery, and I loved the variety these photos added to her gallery.

For her fourth and final outfit, Matilda changed into a long white sundress, and we headed down to the beach. This was the part of the session she had been looking forward to!

We started near the beach grasses and the white lifeguard chair before heading down to the shoreline. The light was getting softer, and the sky was beginning to turn those beautiful warm colors. Then we got the sunset Matilda had been hoping for! We photographed her walking barefoot along the water, sitting in the sand, and enjoying the last bit of light over Long Island Sound.

Her white dress was perfect for the beach, and I absolutely love how these photos turned out. Between the warm sunset, the water, and Matilda’s beautiful smile, it was such a great way to end her session.

To Matilda,

Matilda, you were SO much fun to photograph! You’re absolutely gorgeous, but I also loved your confidence, your sense of humor, and all the personality you brought to your session.

Thank you for trusting me with your senior pictures. I’m so happy we got that beautiful sunset for you! xo

Q: Can we use two locations for senior pictures?

A: Yes! My longer senior sessions allow time for two locations, giving you more variety in your photos. Bauer Park and Hammonasset Beach are a great combination because they’re close together. We can photograph in the beautiful fields, fit in another outfit change, and finish at the beach.

Q: How many outfits can I bring to my senior session?

That depends on the collection you choose. Matilda had four different outfits, which gave her gallery so much variety. I’ll help you plan your outfits so they work well with our locations.

Q: Can we plan my senior pictures around sunset?

A: Absolutely! I schedule my senior sessions around the best natural light. If sunset beach photos are important to you, we’ll plan to finish at the water, just like we did for Matilda.

If you’re dreaming of senior pictures at Hammonasset Beach, Bauer Park, or another beautiful Connecticut shoreline location, I’d love to help you plan your session.

Whether you love golden fields, wildflowers, casual outfits, or sunset photos by the water, we’ll work together to create a session that feels like you.
