An Old Saybrook senior session on a boat, a beautiful waterfront neighborhood, and a gorgeous summer evening! Elle’s senior pictures had everything I love about photographing along the Connecticut shoreline.
We spent the evening exploring her beach neighborhood, starting at the gazebo before heading to the marina and her family’s boat. We finished at the beach with the prettiest golden light and a beautiful summer sunset.
I’m Linda Sobolewski, a Connecticut shoreline senior photographer based in Old Saybrook. I love creating natural, light-filled senior portraits in locations that are meaningful to my clients. Elle’s session was a perfect example of how a familiar place can become a beautiful setting for senior pictures.
An Old Saybrook Senior Session on a Boat and by the Water

One of my favorite things about Elle’s session was that we could photograph everything right in her own neighborhood.
With a charming gazebo, a marina filled with boats, and a beautiful beach, we had so much variety without traveling between locations.
Elle brought three outfits, each giving us a different look. From casual summer portraits to a pretty pink dress at the marina, we had plenty of options.
And of course, we saved the beach for sunset!
Starting With a Casual Look at the Neighborhood Gazebo

We started Elle’s session at the neighborhood gazebo. She wore a simple pink top and white denim shorts, which were perfect for a relaxed summer look. I loved the clean, classic feel of this outfit against the sand, greenery and white gazebo. It was a great way to begin the evening.
Elle described herself as outgoing and adventurous, but also calm, caring, and friendly. I would definitely agree! She has such a sweet personality and was so much fun to photograph.
A Pink Dress, the Marina, and Her Family’s Boat

For her second outfit, Elle changed into a beautiful pink dress, and we headed over to the marina.
This was such a fun part of her session! We photographed her along the docks, surrounded by the boats and beautiful waterfront scenery. Then we headed onto her family’s boat for a few more portraits.
I loved the soft pink of her dress against the blues of the water and the boats. The afternoon light was beautiful, and the marina gave us so many interesting backgrounds.
Including her family’s boat made these photographs especially meaningful. It’s one of the reasons I love planning senior sessions around places that are part of someone’s life.
An Old Saybrook senior session on a boat isn’t something I photograph every day, and I loved having the opportunity to do something different!
A Flowing White Skirt and a Gorgeous Beach Sunset

For our final stop, we headed down to the beach as the sun was getting lower.
Elle changed into a flowing white skirt and navy tank. I loved this combination against the soft sand, beach grasses, and beautiful evening sky. The skirt added such pretty movement to her photographs. We spent time along the shoreline, using the rocks, sand, and water for a variety of portraits.
As the sun began to set, the light became softer and warmer. We had that beautiful golden glow I love so much! By the end of the evening, the sky was filled with soft summer colors. It was the perfect way to finish Elle’s session.
Photographing a Family I Already Know
One of the things I enjoy most about being a senior photographer is getting to work with families more than once. I’ve known Elle’s mom for some time, and I’ve also had the pleasure of photographing her brother Drew and their family. It’s always special when a family invites me back to capture another milestone.
To Elle,
thank you for such a wonderful summer evening! I loved photographing you and spending time in your beautiful beach neighborhood. You were so much fun to work with, and I hope you love looking back at these photos for years to come.
Wishing you a fantastic senior year! xo

Connecticut Beach Senior Pictures FAQ
Can I include a boat in my senior pictures?

Can we photograph multiple locations during one senior session?
Yes! Depending on your collection, we can plan for more than one location.
Elle’s neighborhood was ideal because the gazebo, marina, and beach were all close together. This allowed us to create a variety of images without spending time driving between locations.
What should I wear for summer senior pictures?
I recommend choosing outfits that give you a combination of casual and dressier looks.
Elle’s three outfits worked beautifully together. Her denim shorts were perfect for casual portraits, while her pink dress added a dressier look. For the beach, her flowing white skirt created beautiful movement in the evening light.

When is the best time for senior pictures at the beach?
I love scheduling beach senior sessions during the last couple of hours before sunset. The sunlight becomes softer and warmer as the evening progresses. This creates beautiful light for portraits, especially near the water.
