If you’ve been dreaming about maternity photos at the beach in CT, this session is exactly why. I’m Linda Sobolewski, a Connecticut shoreline photographer based in Old Saybrook. I photograph maternity, newborn, family, and high school senior sessions all along the CT shoreline. And on this summer evening, the shoreline showed off.
This sweet couple joined me at Hammonasset Beach in Madison for their petite maternity session. We timed it for the last hour of light, and it delivered. Soft waves, pink skies, a golden sunset over Long Island Sound, and a mama-to-be glowing in a white floral dress.
Why I Love Hammonasset for Maternity Sessions
I photograph at Hammonasset all the time, and I know this beach like the back of my hand. That matters more than you’d think. Because I know exactly where the light falls and when, we never waste a minute of your session searching for the right spot.
Also, Hammonasset gives you so much more than sand and water. Tall grasses catch the backlight beautifully. A field of wildflowers sits just off the beach, perfect for that soft, romantic feel. And the sunsets? Some of the prettiest on the Connecticut shoreline.
For this session, we captured two completely different looks in less than an hour. That only happens because I’ve learned exactly how the light moves through this beach. That’s the magic of knowing a location this well.
What Is a Petite Maternity Session?
This session was one of my petite maternity sessions, a shorter and sweeter version of a full session. Petite sessions are offered at a reduced price when booked with a newborn session, so you can document your bump and your baby without stretching the budget.
Don’t let “petite” fool you, though. In about 40 minutes we captured beach portraits, wildflower field images, sunset silhouettes, and plenty of sweet moments between these two. Because I guide you through every pose, we make the most of every single minute. You just show up and enjoy it.

What to Wear for Maternity Photos at the Beach in CT
This mama chose a flowy white dress with delicate blue florals, and it was perfect. It moved beautifully in the beach breeze and photographed like a dream against the water. Dad kept it simple in a light button-down and khakis, so all the attention stayed right where it belonged: on that beautiful bump.
For summer maternity photos at the beach in CT, I always suggest soft, light colors and fabrics that move. Long dresses love the shoreline wind. And go barefoot, because walking in the water at sunset makes for some of the most natural, joy-filled images of the whole session.
