2025 Session Superlatives | Connecticut Senior Photographer

Family Photography

It’s that time again. One of my favorite blog posts of the year is here, the 2025 Session Superlatives! This post is always inspired by one of my favorite photographers, Lyndsay Hannah Photography, and it’s such a fun way to look back on the moments that stood out most. From seniors to newborns to families, these are the sessions that stayed with me this year. As a Connecticut senior photographer, I love seeing the personalities, connections, and little details that made each session feel special.

This post is my little way of celebrating all of YOU. My amazing clients are what made 2025 such a special year, and I loved looking back on these sessions. Be sure to scroll all the way through. Your session just might be in here!

If you know me at all, you know I actually don’t mind the heat. I love summer, I love long nights, and I’ll usually take hot over cold any day. But this senior session was on another level.

It was one of those June nights where it was close to 100 degrees, no breeze, and still blazing hot even as the sun was going down. I was honestly struggling, trying to keep moving, stay focused, and not melt into the grass.

Meanwhile, this young man was incredible during his senior session. Calm, relaxed, and completely unfazed by the heat. Not once did he complain, and somehow he made it all look easy. I’m still not sure how he did it.

2. Windiest Session

There’s windy, and then there’s really windy. This senior session was easily one of the windiest, and chilliest sessions I’ve ever photographed. But this gorgeous senior embraced it completely. The wind added so much movement, and the photos ended up being some of my favorites.

This newborn session was simple, but it meant a lot. Mom is from Hawaii and wanted to include a traditional Hawaiian lei in a few images. That was it. Just a small part of who they are, woven into the very beginning of their baby’s story.

I loved that she trusted me with something so personal.

4. Cutest Baby Parts

If you’ve ever had a newborn session, you know how quickly those tiny details change. The fingers, the toes, the wrinkly little feet, even that flaky newborn skin that somehow makes them even cuter.

These are always some of my favorite images to capture, because parents forget them first. And then a few months later, they look back and can’t believe how small their baby actually was.

5. Best Blooms

There are a few CT locations that absolutely show off from June into September with the best blooms. I love when seniors and families book here because florals photograph so beautifully. They add softness and color, and give the whole session this dreamy, feminine look that still feels timeless and clean. I mean…look at these!!

Sibling photos are always a mix of sweet, silly, and completely unpredictable. Sometimes they’re hugging, sometimes they’re laughing, sometimes someone is very clearly not cooperating — and honestly, that’s usually when the best moments happen.

These little interactions, the way they lean into each other or crack each other up, are the ones parents tend to love most. You can’t force sibling connection, and you don’t need to. It shows up all on its ow

Senior props are always personal, and I love when a senior incorporates them into their senior session! College sweatshirts, books, flowers, signs, or meaningful details that matter to them. They’re never about being posed or perfect, just a way to bring a little personality into the session.

Some seniors bring a lot, some bring nothing at all, and both are great. The best props are always the ones that feel natural to who they are right now.

These sessions are a big part of why I love being a Connecticut senior photographer and why senior photography has become such an important part of my work.

I photographed Isla three years ago as she finished her senior year in high school. The camera loved her. Her posing, her natural grace, her confidence. That session was the one that made me fall in love with senior photography.

She became one of those seniors that other girls noticed. I had more than a few tell me they wanted their photos to feel like Isla’s, and I totally get why. She made it look effortless.

So when I was able to photograph her again as she entered her senior year in college, it felt full circle.

Some images just want to be black and white. When you strip away the color, you feel the emotion more. The connection, the expression, the light, the tiny details you would not notice at first. These are the kinds of photos that feel classic and editorial at the same time, and they never go out of style. They are the ones you print, frame, and keep forever because they feel like real life in the most beautiful way.

Looking back on 2025 fills me with so much gratitude. Every session, every family, every senior trusted me with moments that matter, and that never gets old. Thank you for choosing me to capture these memories. I’m already excited for what’s ahead and can’t wait to see what the next year brings.
