It’s that time of year for one of my favorite blog posts of the year! It’s my 2023 Session Superlatives! Inspired by one of my favorite photographers, Lyndsay Hannah Photography, this is a humorous and lighthearted look at some the wonderful sessions I had this year. Be sure to scroll all the way through to see if your session is featured!
2023 Session Superlatives – Most Amazing Skies at a Session
This is a superlative I do every year and can you blame me? CT weather is SO unpredictable, and 2023 was a tough one for photographers. There were what seemed like an excessive amount of rainy days. However, the summer of 2023 brought me not one, but TWO sessions with unexpected rainbows. One of these rainbows was an incredible perfect arch.
2023 Session Superlatives – The Windiest Session
There’s windy, then there is WINDY. This was by far the windiest and coldest beach session I’ve ever done, but this beautiful senior not only embraced her windy session, she looked like a model straight out of Town and Country.
2023 Session Superlatives – The Hottest Session
It truly rained A LOT this past spring, and we had to reschedule the baseball part to this high school senior’s session quite a few times. We had to get it done, so finally we had a warm, but overcast day with no rain in the forecast. Since it was cloudy we went ahead and did the session in the middle of the day. WELL, of course the blazing hot mid-day sun came out in full force. Let’s just say I am glad there are no pictures of me, as I truly wilted in the mid-day heat. This senior super-star star handled the heat way better than I did!
2023 Session Superlatives – The Biggest 180
This adorable little cutie pie was 2 years old last year and was not a happy camper for his session in 2022. In fact, he was pretty upset for the entire session, only wanting to be held by dad. (SEE FIRST PHOTO)
Well, fast forward to summer 2023 – and wow! He had the best time ever at his family session. 🙂
2023 Session Superlatives – TWINS!
This year I had not one, but two amazing sets of twins! They were the best, and they were all so easy to photograph. 🙂
2023 Session Superlatives – Best Props in a Senior Session
I am doing this superlative again because I love props so much for senior sessions. They always make a session better and more interesting.
Best Fall Foliage
There is a sweet spot about 3/4 of the way through October where the foliage on the Connecticut shoreline is on fi-yah. This year it was the third weekend in October that brought the most amazing fall colors with unseasonably warm, lovely days. The two sessions below were absolute knockouts when it came to showing off all that autumn in CT has to offer.
Best Spring Blossoms
My senior sessions at Harkness Memorial Park this year offered the best spring blossom backdrop for 2023. The tulips, daffodils and roses were so vibrant and lush. 🌷
Favorite Sibling Photos
Are you kidding? There are too many. Every single family has my favorite sibling photos. 🙂
Favorite Newborn Moments
Of course, I love doing newborn sessions. But these photos below really resonate with me. That mama with her two little girls. That was me many years ago, with my 2 girls so close in age. I won’t ever forget holding a newborn in one arm, and a barely 2 year old in the other.
The other two images are from a chaotic, loving and fun newborn session with the chillest mom and dad. This newborn baby was alert and absolutely fixated on his brothers the whole time.
2023 Session Superlatives – Best Beach Sunsets
Take a look at all the beach sessions I got to do. 🙂 I love my beach sessions more than anything. We sure do get some gorgeous sunsets here on the CT Shoreline.
What a great year 2023 was! Every single session was special to me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me capture your special memories. It means more to me than you’ll ever know. Happy New Year and looking forward to 2024!
