It’s that time of year again! Time for my 2022 Session Superlatives! Inspired by one of my favorite photographers, Lyndsay Hannah Photography, this is a humorous and lighthearted look at some the wonderful sessions I had this year. 2022 Session Superlatives – Most Amazing Skies at a Session
Unlike 2021, the weather was actually very nice this past year. Mostly warm, sunny days with beautiful sunsets were the norm. Yay! However, there was one session that had an iffy weather forecast with a chance of rain. Normally, I’d reschedule, but for some reason my gut said to go for it. When we got to our first location, the skies opened up. We sat in our cars for a bit and waited, because for some reason I just knew it would stop, and it did.
We started this senior session in an urban location, then ended it at the beach. Because it had rained, the beach was completely empty and those stormy skies were just….WOW.
2022 Session Superlatives – The Most Special Session
All of my sessions are special, but this one stood out to me. This was actually an extended family session, with two sisters who just lost their mom. Since their mom grew up in the Essex area, they wanted to celebrate her life by having family photos taken on the docks at the end of Main Street in Essex. They had photos of her mom, as a young girl, sitting on these very docks, so it was very special!
My Favorite Mom Photo
There are so many wonderful loving mom photos. I have so many favorites, I was almost going to post several favorite mom photos. But then I came across this very sweet series, which had struck a chord with me as I was capturing it, and still does now. How utterly sweet is this little boy giving his mom a tiny bouquet of flowers?
My Favorite Dad Photo
2-year-olds can sometimes be the most challenging age to get photos! I’ve found that by playing lots of games, and just generally running around after them I am able capture some sweet images. However, this adorable little boy did NOT anything to do with getting his photo taken. He was very upset for the entire session and the only one who could comfort him, was his dad.
My Favorite Sweet Siblings
Are you kidding? I spent a lot of time trying to pick a winner for this one, and finally realized that I just CAN’T. There are too many. Every single family has the sweetest siblings!
The Cutest Baby Details
Oh my goodness! Tiny baby fingers, toes, umbilical cord stumps, big yawns, and rolls of baby fat. So many precious baby details, and I love capturing them all.
2022 Session Superlatives – My Favorite Senior Girl Poses
I was SOOO lucky to photograph so many amazingly gorgeous high school seniors this past year. Gosh, I loved photographing them. Seniors are so much fun and always down for anything. I have a lot of go-to poses but my favorite one for the girls (and it’s their favorite too!) is the “laying down pose”. GORG!
2022 Session Superlatives – My Favorite Senior Boy Poses
And the boys? Well, I noticed that a lot of teenage boys like to use their hands to keep pushing their hair out of their faces. I mean, it’s hardly even a pose, since it’s something they already do! (and look pretty darn good doing it!)
2022 Session Superlatives – The Most Creative Pose
I have my tried and true poses for senior sessions, but this was her idea, and I sooo love it!
2022 Session Superlatives – Best Props in a Senior Session
Props can always make a session better! Even the family boat. 🙂 Here are a few of my favorite props from 2022.
2022 Session Superlatives – Best Beach Sunsets
When I first went into business, I was afraid of doing photo sessions at the beach because the light can be so tricky. We get gorgeous sunsets here at the CT Shoreline, and since it’s the most popular request for session locations, I had to let go of that fear and just go for it! A few years later, and not only do I have my go-to spots, I also know how to work that light. Look at all these gorgeous beach sunsets.
2022 Session Superlatives – Most People at a Session
I can also call this one of my most fun sessions of the year. 23 people! It’s the biggest one I’ve done to date. And right after I took this photo, I announced that one of the family members was pregnant, for a happy surprise for all.
This was such a fun blog post for me to do. Every single session in 2022 was very special to me. I loved going through all of these photos and remembering all the details of our time together. You were all SO amazing with me, trusting me and always letting me do my thing, no matter how crazy, I mean passionate I was! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me capture your special memories, and being a part of your life for a little while! It means more to me than you’ll ever know.
Happy New Year and looking forward to 2023!
