5 Tips for a Stress Free Senior Photo Session

Senior Tips

It’s finally your senior year! It’s so exciting, and there is so much to look forward to. But it can also feel overwhelming at times, and super busy. Your senior year is full of details, college applications, homework, big decisions, and more. Scheduling your senior photo session is one more detail to take care of and there can be a lot of pressure for things to go right. If something doesn’t, it can cause a lot of stress. So, I have put together 5 tips for a stress free senior photo session, so you can rock your session and stop that stress in its tracks.

1. Know the plan.

Preparation is key. A lot of stress in life can come from the unknown and your senior session is no different. Having a plan in place helps a lot. Know the locations and the outfits you want to wear at each one. It will relieve a lot of stress by knowing what is coming next and when.

2. Try on your outfits.

Try on all your outfits in advance, that way you have time to change things up if you need to. A good idea is to do a fashion show for your family or friends. Get their opinions, and be open to them. You will feel more confident in front of the camera if you have given your outfit a test run.

3. Give yourself time.

It’s stressful to be rushing around, so the day of your senior session, be sure to give yourself the time needed to get ready. You may be getting your hair done, or have to drive a distance to your first location.

4. Have a family member or friend there to support with you.

Having a family member or friend there with whom you feel at ease will help you be yourself and relax which then comes out in the pictures. I often see the senior I am photographing enjoy laughs and special moments with their family member or friend during this unique time.

5. Talk to your photographer.

Most photographers love when clients ask questions. I know I do! Personally, I love when seniors send pics of any outfit questions, because this is what I am here for! Let your photographer know anything you are stressed or worried about – your weight, height or even a big pimple that appeared right before your shoot! I am totally invested in you, and want to make sure you are comfortable and prepared, so you can have a stress free senior photo session!
