About CT Shoreline Photographer, Linda Sobolewski

My interests are simple: coffee, workouts, and being outdoors surrounded by beautiful scenery. There’s nothing like getting up early to photograph the sun rising over the CT shoreline. I enjoy taking high school senior portraits, lifestyle newborn photography, and capturing family gatherings in beautiful settings. My goal as a family photographer in Connecticut is to provide easy and comfortable portrait sessions as well as timeless, lasting images.

What Happens if it Rains on the Day of my Photo Shoot?

Family Photography

You’ve been looking forward to your photo session, planning outfits, and getting excited about capturing beautiful memories—only to check the forecast and see rain. Ugh! So, what happens if it rains on the day of your photo shoot? Don’t worry—I’ve got a plan!

I find this to be a particular issue if your family is together for only a short period of time, such as a family reunion, or vacation. Well, you can rest assured that the days leading up to your photo session with me, I will be keeping a very close eye on the weather.

The weather in Connecticut can be unpredictable, so I always keep a close eye on the forecast leading up to our session. However, forecasts can change quickly, and a little rain doesn’t always mean we have to cancel! What happens if it rains? Here’s what we’ll do:

1️⃣ Wait and See – If the forecast shows scattered showers or a slight chance of rain, we may still be good to go! Some of the most beautiful, moody skies happen just before or after a storm.

2️⃣ Adjust the Timing – If possible, we can shift the session time earlier or later in the day to dodge the rain.

3️⃣ Pick a Backup Date – If it’s clear that rain will be heavy and consistent, we’ll reschedule for my next available date. I always build flexibility into my schedule for weather-related reschedules. Weather forecasts are always changing, so I almost always wait until the actual day of your session to make any decisions. Even days that are raining may clear up, often making for beautiful and dramatic skies!

You might be wondering, do we have to reschedule if it rains, or can we still take photos? If it’s just a light drizzle, sometimes we can go ahead with the session—especially if you’re up for some romantic, playful, umbrella-filled shots! However, heavy rain and wind can make it tough to get the dreamy, glowing images I love to create.

If the weather isn’t cooperating, don’t stress! What happens if it rains and we have to reschedule? I’ll reach out as soon as possible to discuss our options and find a new date that works for everyone. Your session will still happen—we’ll just make sure the conditions are right for the best results.

I know it’s disappointing when the weather doesn’t cooperate, but trust me—rescheduling is always worth it. The goal is to capture beautiful, timeless images, and that’s best done when the weather allows for soft, glowing light and a relaxed, enjoyable experience.

So, what happens if it rains? We adapt, adjust, and make sure you still get the stunning photos you’ve been dreaming of. And hey—if your heart is set on a rainy-day session with cozy jackets and cute umbrellas, I’m always up for an adventure!

If you have any questions about weather-related reschedules or want to chat about your upcoming session, feel free to reach out. Can’t wait to capture your memories—rain or shine!
