As spring weather fast approaches, I wanted to share this wonderful family session in the snow I recently did. While many families like to have their family photoshoots in the summer and fall, winter time can be a magical time for photos! There is something very special about the way the winter light hits the snow.

Heather is the owner of the popular Mexican restaurant in Old Saybrook, CT, The Cuckoo’s Nest. She reached out to me late last fall for family photos, as well as individual portraits of her children, since schools were not taking photos this year. I told her we can wait until spring for photos, or we can get some wonderful snowy family photos! She was very excited at that idea, and together we discussed possible locations. She decided on Chatfield Hollow to get photos at the red covered bridge.

To help Heather and her family prepare for their family session in the snow, I sent her my comprehensive Style Guide. Heather also texted me photos of possible outfit combinations for suggestions. I love when clients do that! As a result, this family did a wonderful job of coordinating for their session in the snow! I loved the deep mustard yellow color against the navy and grey with pops of red. It was such a great color combination against the backdrop of the snow and covered bridge.

We had a cold, but bright and sunny afternoon with pretty light. It was a bit of a walk to get to the Chatfield Hollow covered bridge, but it was well worth it! I hope you enjoy taking a peek at my time with this sweet family for their session in the snow!
