My husband’s very good friend has a cottage on beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee in Wolfboro, New Hampshire. We were lucky enough to get to spend a fantastic weekend getaway there recently. We had gone there a couple of years ago, during the wintertime. Even during the winter Lake Winnipesaukee is really beautiful. Views of a pristine lake are one thing, but distant mountain views stop me in my tracks every time! That is something I am not used to seeing.

During the winter, there are all the usual winter sports close by. Next time we go back we want to do some snow shoeing. Wolfboro, New Hampshire also has this really cool brewery called The Lone Wolfe right in the heart of their quaint downtown.

But summertime is really something else. We left on a Friday and after stopping off in Boston to visit my daughter for lunch, we had to deal with some nasty traffic to finish the ride.

But when we finally got to Lake Winnipesaukee, it was like seeing an oasis!

The resort where our friends’ cottage is located had kayaks, canoes and floats. It also had this great dock where we spent a lot of time just relaxing and catching up with our friends. One day we enjoyed a fantastic boat ride and lunch with other friends who live nearby. We grilled at home and had a nice dinner out. We even stopped for ice cream at local ice cream shop one evening.

I wish I could bottle that feeling of relaxation I felt while kayaking with my husband on Lake Winnipesaukee and take it out next January! But don’t worry, we will definitely be back. 🙂
