This past weekend was the Memorial Day weekend and wow, what a weekend! The weather was perfect, wasn’t it? I think we were all more than ready for beautiful, sunny weather. Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial beginning of summer, and this year it marked my 29th wedding anniversary. 29 years!!
We always like to do something special to celebrate our anniversary.
Last year, we enjoyed a sunset cruise down the Connecticut River. Then, a couple of years ago, my husband surprised me with dance lessons at Fred Astaire Dance Studio in Old Saybrook, which was a ton of fun. We spent one year going to a New York Mets baseball game. And others having nice dinners and going for a bike ride.
This year we started the weekend off with a stop at Bill’s Seafood in Westbrook. We sat outside in their outdoor bar and had a drink and appetizers. I love going here because it always makes me feel like summer is really here.
Sunday night we ventured into downtown Mystic, CT. Downtown Mystic is truly fantastic! There are so many cool restaurants, bars and shops, it feels like there is always something fun going on. There are people and activity everywhere, which I love!
We checked into our Inn right in the heart of Mystic, then headed on over to an outdoor bar and restaurant called Red 36. What a fun place! It was a beautiful, warm, sunny afternoon and we got a seat in their outdoor bar.
We had 6:00 reservations for a sunset sail aboard the Schooner Argia with Argia Mystic Cruises. We packed our dinner and enjoyed a relaxing evening sailing down the beautiful Mystic coastline.
On Monday morning we attended the Old Saybrook Memorial Day parade. It seems like it has rained every year since I have moved here. However, this year we had perfect weather.
I actually handed off my precious camera to a stranger for a photo of my husband and myself. Unfortunately it’s a little blurry, but I love it, nonetheless.
