If you’re looking for Connecticut beach senior pictures, Lilly’s summer session at Hammonasset Beach in Madison, CT, is full of inspiration. I’m Linda Sobolewski, a Connecticut shoreline senior photographer based in Old Saybrook. I specialize in natural, light-filled senior portraits at beautiful beaches, parks, and gardens.
Lilly’s session took place on one of the prettiest evenings of the summer. We had gorgeous golden light, low tide, and a spectacular sunset. I couldn’t have asked for better conditions!
Lilly is a smart, witty, and talented high school senior. She participates in marching band, mock trial, and track and field. After graduation, she plans to pursue pre-law in college. Lilly and her mom envisioned natural-looking photographs with beach grasses, beautiful light, and a low-tide shoreline. We had all of that, plus something special from her mom’s garden!
A Beautiful Summer Evening at Hammonasset Beach in Madison, CT

Hammonasset Beach is one of my favorite locations for senior pictures along the Connecticut shoreline. I love the variety of scenery we can use in one session. There are rustic fences, sandy pathways, grassy areas, and beautiful stretches of beach.
Lilly brought three outfits, giving us a nice combination of casual and dressier looks. We started in the grassy areas and saved the beach for sunset. The light was beautiful from start to finish!
A Casual Look With Jeans and Beautiful Dahlias

We started Lilly’s session with a simple white top and light-wash jeans. I love this classic combination for senior pictures. It’s comfortable, timeless, and photographs beautifully against natural backdrops.
We used the rustic wooden fences, pathways, and greenery for these photographs. The late afternoon sun filtered through the trees, creating that gorgeous golden glow I love so much.
Lilly’s mom brought along a beautiful bouquet of dahlias from her own garden. The colors were spectacular, with shades of pink, burgundy, and cream. I usually bring a small bouquet for my senior girls, but these flowers were extra special!
And here’s a little side note. Lilly’s mom also surprised me with a small vase of dahlias to take home. Such a thoughtful gesture, and I absolutely loved them!
A Flowing Skirt in the Golden Fields

For her second outfit, Lilly paired a simple white top with a long, flowing skirt. I loved the rich color against the warm golden grasses and greenery.
By this point, the sunlight was absolutely beautiful. We incorporated the dahlias into a few more photographs. The surrounding grasses also gave us a lovely backdrop for some natural portraits.
This is one of the things I love about senior sessions with multiple outfits. A simple clothing change can create an entirely different look. And we didn’t have to travel to another location!
A White Sundress and a Spectacular Hammonasset Beach Sunset

We saved Lilly’s white sundress for the beach, and the timing couldn’t have been more perfect!
The tide was incredibly low that evening. It exposed a huge stretch of wet sand that reflected the beautiful colors of the sky. The water was calm, and the light was gorgeous. We had one of the prettiest sunsets I photographed all summer.
Lilly walked barefoot along the shoreline, and her white dress looked beautiful against the soft colors of the sky. We took photographs along the water, in the sand, and near the beach grasses.
And then came that sky! The soft pinks, peaches, and lavender tones were absolutely breathtaking.
These are the evenings I hope for when planning Connecticut beach senior pictures. Beautiful light, natural surroundings, and a sunset that just keeps getting prettier
To Lilly,
Lilly, you looked absolutely beautiful, and I loved having the opportunity to photograph you. You are an amazing and talented young woman, and I loved spending the evening with you and your mom. We certainly lucked out with one of the prettiest evenings of the summer.
Wishing you a wonderful senior year and all the best as you head off to college! And a special thank you to your mom for those gorgeous dahlias! xo

Connecticut Beach Senior Pictures FAQ
What is the best time for beach senior pictures in Connecticut?
I schedule my beach senior sessions during the last couple of hours before sunset. The sunlight is softer and warmer during this time. Some of my favorite photographs are taken just before sunset and even a few minutes afterward. That’s when the sky can turn beautiful shades of pink and lavender.
Can we include both grassy areas and the beach in one session?
Absolutely! Hammonasset Beach in Madison is a great example of a location with plenty of variety. We can use grassy areas, sandy pathways, and the beach during one session. This gives you a beautiful mix of backgrounds without having to travel.
What should I wear for my beach senior pictures?
I recommend bringing a combination of casual and dressier outfits. Jeans and a pretty top are perfect for relaxed portraits. Flowing skirts and sundresses look beautiful in the golden light and along the shoreline.
