There’s something truly magical about beach photo sessions—the soft light, the sea breeze, and the natural joy that comes with just being by the water. But if you’ve never done one before, you might be wondering… what to expect at a beach photo session with Linda Sobolewski Photography?
Well, I’ve got you! Here’s exactly what to expect, so you can feel relaxed, prepared, and excited going into your session.

A Relaxed and Fun Experience
My beach sessions are meant to be laid-back and natural. I want you to enjoy the process, not stress about posing perfectly or getting everyone to smile at the same time (spoiler: we’ll get those smiles anyway!). I guide you every step of the way so you can focus on just being together. The result? Candid, joyful moments that reflect your real connection.
THE PHOTOS BELOW WERE ALL TAKEN IN THE MONTH OF JUNE.
June beach sessions bring the magic of early summer—lush greenery, warm breezes, less humidity and quieter shores before the crowds roll in. Since the sun sets as late as 8:30, sessions start later in the evening, something to keep in mind with earlier bedtimes!

What to Wear
Comfort and movement are key! Flowy dresses, soft colors, and outfits that allow you to move, sit, or even dip your toes in the water are all great choices. I’ll send along a full style guide beforehand to help you choose what photographs best at the beach (and I’m always happy to give feedback on outfit ideas, too!).
THE PHOTOS BELOW WERE TAKEN DURING THE MONTH OF JULY.
July beach sessions mean warm evenings, calm tides and gorgeous sunsets. The sunsets are still late, but slightly earlier than in June—making them a bit more manageable for little ones with early bedtimes. It’s also a great month for families on summer break to get together and soak in that classic New England beach magic.

The Vibe
There will be laughter, snuggles, sandy toes, wind in your hair, and a whole lot of genuine connection. I’m not big on stiff poses—I’ll gently direct you, but I want the session to feel more like a beautiful evening at the beach than a formal photoshoot.
THE IMAGES BELOW, TAKEN DURING THE MONTH OF AUGUST.
August beach sessions are full of warmth and vibrant color. The light gets a little softer as summer winds down, and we often get the prettiest skies at the end of the day. It’s a great time for those last golden memories before school starts.

Timing is Everything
All of my beach sessions take place about an hour before sunset, when the light is soft and golden. This “golden hour” creates that dreamy, glowing look you see in so many of my beach images.
If you’re wondering what to expect at a beach photo session with Linda Sobolewski Photography in terms of timing: we’ll meet with plenty of time to explore the location and ease into the session. I like to start on the grassy paths then move down to the beach as the sun dips lower in the sky. That way, we take full advantage of all the beautiful backdrops the beach has to offer. There are many of them, and I know them all!
THESE PHOTOS WERE ALL TAKEN DURING THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER.
September is one of my favorite months for beach sessions. The light is soft and golden, the beaches are quieter, and the earlier sunsets make for an earlier start time—perfect for little ones with early bedtimes. It’s a beautiful, peaceful time of year to capture relaxed, golden-hour moments by the water.
