2024 Connecticut Family and Senior Superlatives!

Family Photography

It’s that time again—one of my favorite blog posts of the year is here: The 2024 Session Superlatives! 🎉 Inspired by one of my favorite photographers, the amazing Lyndsay Hannah Photography, this post is a fun, lighthearted roundup of some unforgettable moments from this year’s sessions.

From laugh-out-loud highlights to heartwarming favorites, it’s my way of celebrating YOU—my incredible clients who made 2024 so special. ✨ Be sure to scroll all the way through—your session just might be featured!

This is one of my favorite yearly superlatives because, let’s face it, weather plays such a huge role in every session. Unlike most years since I’ve been in business, 2024 blessed us with fantastic weather. Sure, the drought was bad, but it did make for stress-free sessions with no last-minute reschedules.

While there weren’t any rainbows or dramatic skies this year, there was one session that delivered the most stunning sunset. The extra-pretty colors were the perfect backdrop to show off some of this talented gymnast’s incredible skills. Absolutely unforgettable!

Oh, and let’s not forget the full moon rising at the end of one stunning senior girl’s session. It was the cherry on top of an already gorgeous evening.

I had a few Extended Family Sessions in 2024, and of course, they are all special when generations are together. But this one? It had a little extra magic. Two grandmothers–who also happen to be sisters, brought their families together from opposite sides of the country for one gorgeous evening at the beach.

I love when seniors bring props to their sessions—it always adds such a personal touch! This year, I had some really fun ones, but my favorite? This super cool truck. It brought so much character to the session and made for some unforgettable shots that totally reflected this senior’s personality.

While I adore that dreamy, glowing backlit vibe, my favorite kind of light for senior sessions is hard light. It’s bold, dramatic, and totally striking. Hard light creates sharp, defined shadows and high contrast that adds so much depth and edge to a photo. It’s tricky to master, but when it’s done right? Magic. I always challenge myself to capture at least one hard-light shot during every senior session, and this one? Hands down my favorite from 2024!

Beneath are some of my other favorite hard-light images from 2024.

I’m always on the hunt for fresh locations with those dreamy spring blossoms along the CT shoreline, and 2024 didn’t disappoint! 🌸 This year, I found two new gems—one filled with fragrant lavender and another showcasing stunning cherry blossoms. These spots quickly became favorites for capturing those soft, floral vibes. Can’t wait to see what magic they bring in 2025!

Every single family has my favorite sibling photos. 🙂 So many sweet sibling moments this year, but this one right here? Definitely a favorite. 🥰 I’ve been photographing these two since they were little, and they’re still as cute and playful as ever. Watching them grow up together has been such a joy!

And honestly, every family brings their own favorite sibling photo magic. ❤️

Looking back at all the newborn sessions from 2024, the images that stand out most to me are the ones that radiate connection. From a tiny newborn locking eyes with their sibling to the tender, nurturing moments shared with mom and dad—it’s pure magic. Capturing those bonds is such an honor, and I’m forever grateful to witness these fleeting moments. 💛✨

Spending so much time at the beach means I get front-row seats to some incredible sunsets—2024 did not disappoint! 🌅 This year’s weather made for consistently beautiful evenings, and I’m reminded every time why beach sessions are my absolute favorite. There’s nothing quite like those glowing skies over the CT shoreline. Pure magic. ✨

Attending a senior workshop in San Antonio, TX, this year was a true game-changer! Surrounded by talented photographers and beautiful senior models, I found new inspiration, honed my skills, and captured some of my favorite images of the year. This experience not only fueled my creativity but also reminded me why I love photographing high school seniors so much!
