Senior pictures at Harkness Park are always a dream—and Scarlett’s session was no exception. Located in Waterford, Connecticut, Harkness Memorial State Park offers the perfect mix of formal gardens, historic architecture, and a beautiful beach. It’s one of my favorite locations for senior portraits because it gives us multiple stunning backdrops in one spot.

For Scarlett’s session, we started near the gardens where the soft greenery and stone walkways gave a timeless, elegant look to her portraits. From there, we wandered through the mansion grounds, capturing a classic New England vibe. And of course—we ended at the beach, where the golden-hour light gave us the prettiest glow. Scarlett was relaxed, full of laughter, and so much fun to photograph.

Of course, as beautiful as Harkness is, it was Scarlett who stole the show. She has such a classic elegance that photographed so beautifully—and she’s also incredibly sweet and so much fun to be around. I had the best time with her!

Whether you’re looking for a more formal setting or something breezy and coastal, senior pictures at Harkness Park offer the best of both worlds. I always recommend bringing a few outfit options so we can take full advantage of the different locations throughout the park. Pro tip: weekdays are best to avoid crowds, especially during peak season!
